Meet the Horses
at Bachelor Creek Ranch

Sis Sis is a Liver Chestnut Quarter Horse mare. Our first horse, she came to live with us on the ranch in July 2004, at the ripe old age of 26. Her full name is "I'm Prissy Pride" but we think Sis is a lot easier to say! We call Sis "the babysitter" because she knows how to be with kids. She's gentle and intuitive, and she loves a good scratch on her neck and belly. Sis is retired from riding now, but she's always ready for loving and grooming.

Pride is a Roan Appaloosa mare. She joined the ranch in March 2005. Pride is our teenager, even though she was already fifteen when she came here. She's sensitive, friendly and wants to please, but she wants to do it all her own way. She relates well with the teenagers who visit Bachelor Creek Ranch. Pride's favorite speed is fast but she's learned to slow down when she must. And, like most teenagers, she likes to eat!

Fancy is a Palomino mare. She came to the ranch on loan in October 2007, at the age of 7. She's a well-trained horse but she wasn't being ridden much, so her owner brought her to us when our first horse, Sis, retired from riding. Fancy is now a ranch favorite. She's our best ride, but she's also very smart and likes to test the limits.

RB is a Black Quarter Horse gelding. Also known as Black Horse, RB came as a gift to the ranch in April 2008 after being retired from his job of running cows out of the hills. Kids absolutely love RB. He's easy to ride and he's very sweet. We call him our "puppy dog" because he follows us everywhere we go in the field. Although, as a 25 year old, RB was too old to herd cattle, he was still the perfect age to be loved by a child.

Penny is a Red Roan Quarter Horse/Walker mix. She came at age 13 to live on the ranch in June 2008. Penny is a sweetheart, but she has some trust issues. We play the "friendly game" and we're concentrating our efforts on loving her and proving that she can trust us. Shelly is the only person who rides Penny now.
