Our Program

Child led on horseback at Bachelor Creek RanchBecause we believe all children are at risk in today's world, our environment is dedicated to restoring the heart, soul, mind and strength of the children who come to the ranch. Each child is unique and comes to Bachelor Creek Ranch for his or her own special time and needs. The only requirement we make is that the child must want to come.

Children and young adults, ages 5 to 18 years, in the Yakima area are invited to interact with our horses and experience ranch life with us. There is no charge for this experience. Our program is made possible through the generous donations of time, talent and money from our wonderful volunteers, sponsors and donors.

Girl brushing RB at Bachelor Creek RanchChildren between the ages of 8-18 come for a 90 minute session. Each session is scheduled by appointment and may include a variety of activities. We pair one child with one horse and one leader. This one-on-one attention assures that no child is ever left alone or feels lost in a crowd. In addition to learning how to care for and ride a horse, we believe that children benefit from the whole ranch experience -- including chores, crafts, games and storytelling. Our goal is not to make accomplished riders but rather to help kids feel connected.

We serve children between the ages of 5-7 through a new program we're calling C.H.A.P.S. (Children and Horses Activity and Play Session). This is a group session that is schedule one Saturday per month. This session will include several activities in smaller group settings, which may include simple chores, story-telling, games/activities, and horse time. We gear this time to meet the specific needs of younger children and their abilities.
